Chief Operating Officer

The Chief Operating Officer, or COO, is a hands-on administrator that oversees the detailed operations of the company by working with each department to ensure they are financially secure. The COO is responsible for approving budgets and operating plans.

Chief Financial Officer

The Chief Financial Officer, or CFO, manages an organization’s fiscal operations. They set budgets, analyze prices, handle investments, manage accounting and bookkeeping staff and more. The CFO also helps with quarterly and year-end reports to keep an eye on expenses, profits and losses. CFOs often have a degree in accounting or finance and enjoy working with numbers.

Vice President, Chief or Director

Someone who leads a department is often referred to as a Vice President. A Vice President manages a department according to the President’s wishes. They may also handle administrative tasks, marketing, advertising, public relations, human resources and more. To become a Vice President, people often climb the ladder from coordinator to manager to director.

Executive Director

Some organizations have an Executive Director. This individual serves a board of directors. They often perform the same tasks as a President or CEO, but they do require approval from the board before making certain decisions.
